You're on the search for new employment, your resume is on the job boards, your LinkedIn profile is updated and yet no recruiters have contacted you.
I've covered resumes before, so if you're looking for a indepth overview on building an impactful resume, check out the previous posts, this information is specifically about 1 fatal error that people make when putting their information online: Job Title
When a hiring manager or recruiter is searching online for qualified candidates one of the main search criteria is "Job Title". Typically they use a few variations that would normally be used for the position - for instance - Office Administrator or Executive Assistant or Administrative Assistant. It is important to know the customary title of your job and use it online so your qualifications and information will come up when someone is searching for your area of expertise.
Recently I've seen the following in the job title space and while they're creative, they aren't going to be easily searchable: Multifaceted Team Player / Super Hero Tech / Problem Wrangler.
My best advise is: Save the fun stuff for the bullet points in job responsibilities and keep the Job Title clean and clear! You might be the best Problem Wrangler Administrative Assistant in the San Diego, but we may not find you if we entered customary job titles in the Job Title search box.
